How it works
The countdown is the number of calendar days from the starting day to the target day. Today is not counted as a day left, so if the date is tomorrow the answer is 1 day.
If the date has already passed, the calculator tells you how many days ago it was instead.
The countdown uses your device’s date, so it moves on by itself each day when you come back to the page.
Worked example
On 29 September 2026 there are 93 days until 31 December 2026: 1 day left in September, then 31 in October, 30 in November and 31 in December.
That is 13 weeks and 2 days, and 31 December 2026 falls on a Thursday.
Good to know
- The countdown is in whole days. It does not count hours to a specific time of day.
- Weekdays do not remove public holidays, which differ by country.

Is today counted?
No. The countdown shows full days still to come, so an event tomorrow is 1 day away.
Can I count days since a past date?
Yes. Pick a date in the past and the answer shows how many days ago it was.
Does it work for working days?
The weekdays row counts Monday to Friday in the period. Take away any public holidays that apply to you.
