How it works
The calculator counts calendar days from the start date to the end date, the way you would count on a wall calendar. Leap years are handled exactly.
By default the start date is counted and the end date is not, so Monday to Tuesday is 1 day. Choose to include both dates when you are counting the days of something that runs through the last day, such as a holiday or a hotel stay described by its dates.
Weekdays are Monday to Friday. Public holidays are different in every country, so they are not removed.
Worked example
From 1 March 2026 to 1 June 2026 is 92 days: 31 days in March, 30 in April and 31 in May.
That is 3 months exactly, or 13 weeks and 1 day. If you include 1 June as well, the count becomes 93 days.
Good to know
- Public holidays are not taken out of the weekday count, because they depend on your country and region.
- Dates use the Gregorian calendar that most of the world uses today.
- For notice periods, visas or legal deadlines, check whether the rule counts the first day, the last day or both.
Questions people ask
How many days are there between two dates?
Pick both dates and the answer appears instantly. The start date is counted and the end date is not, unless you choose to include both.
Should I include the end date?
Include it when you count days you are present, such as a 3 to 5 July trip, which is 3 days. Leave it out when you measure time passed, such as from one birthday to the next.
Does it count business days?
Yes. The weekdays row counts Monday to Friday. Public holidays are not removed, so subtract any that apply to you.
What happens if the end date is before the start date?
The calculator swaps them and tells you, so you always get a positive number of days.
